ROBERTA INGHILTERRA @ DRESDEN FRANKFURT DANCE COMPANY, GERMANY (November 30, 2018)

MA was overjoyed to hear that Roberta Inghilterra, who took part in MA’s short story installation “Ich sehe nicht die Stunde” (2014) was accepted as a member of the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company after a successful audition. MA is delighted to see how the careers of artists who have collaborated with MAstudioLAB and Artist (s) at Large® evolve.

#GIVINGTUESDAY: MA DONATES TO PODERE CAMPOGRANDE @ CITTA DELLA PIEVE, UMBRIA (IT) (NOVEMBER 27, 2018)

MA visited a farm in Umbria called Podere Campogrande and came away inspired with what she experienced, having learned so much about conservation, nutrition, biodiverse eco-systems and the value of glocal communities. She decided to donate some of her time by helping out with the olive harvest and by contributing a short film as part of their Winter Aid campaign (#GIVINGTUESDAY) to help them get through the winter, and in particular, in taking care of their 17 donkeys.

#GIVINGTUESDAY (November 27) is a day of giving, of donating time, or money or goods. MA attends Keynote Speech by Imogen Heap @ Triennale / Milano (November 14, 2018)

MA attended – and was inspired by – a keynote speech by artist Imogen Heap at the Triennale Museum in Milan as part of the JAZZMI festival. Ms Heap demonstrated the Mi.Mu gloves and performed “Breathe In” and “Hide and Seek”. She also talked about how her experience of the music industry inspired her to create a blockchain based Hub called Mycelia which promises to revolutionise how music services are managed in the future by empowering artists and promoting sustainability and transparency.

MA’S ALBUM FEATURED ON LIFEGATE RADIO @ MILAN (IT) (NOVEMBER 6, 2018)

“Authenticity”, a track from MA’s album, “I AM HERE WHERE I AM HOME” (33Jazz Records / The Orchard) was featured on LifeGate Radio which is based in Milan, Italy. It is a particular honour for MA as not only is she a fan of LifeGate Radio but she is also a supporter of Lifegate’s commitment to sustainable ecological development.

Artist Retreat @ Monte Verità, Ascona (Switzerland) (15-16 September, 2018)

MA spent a few days at Monte Verità in Ascona, Switzerland which is a former artist colony and is now an ETH Zurich conference & cultural facility which includes a hotel, museum and tea plantation. The hotel (which includes a Bechstein grand piano) was designed by Emil Fahrenkamp. It is situated in a park which also contains an out-door performance space and a sculpture (icosahedron) commemorating Rudolf Laban, who created a “School of Art” on Monte Verità from 1913-1918.

GAGA People Dance Intensive @ Moncalvo (IT) (September 3-8, 2018)

MA participated in the GAGA People Dance Intensive at Orsolina 28 in Moncalvo, Italy between September 3 – 8, 2018 with Ohad Naharin (a.k.a “Mr Gaga”) as a personal challenge within the context of her own (re) MOVE ME movement research initiative. The intensive included dancing excerpts of a selection of Naharin’s works which he created whilst artistic director of the Batsheva Dance Company.
