I AM HERE WHERE I AM HOME – Short Film by MA @ DAILYMOTION (August 31, 2018)

Back to work after the summer break. To ease you back into the fray, why not have a look at a short film distributed by The Orchard to accompany my latest album, “I AM HERE WHERE I AM HOME“. The film is called “Unsubscribe (please remove me)”and is available from a number of outlets (YouTube Art Tracks, YouTube, VEVO, Dailymotion etc). The CD is also available via a selection of retailers, for those of you who are, like me, old school or as I like to put it, Neo-Vintage.

MA’s album featured on Jazz Radio @ Berlin, Germany (July 25, 2018)

MA’s recent album, “I AM HERE WHERE I AM HOME” has been included on the playlist for the weekly JazzEuropa show at JazzRadio based in Berlin, Germany. In Berlin, the album can be heard at UKW-Frequency 106,8 or alternatively via the Webplayer for JazzRadio.net. The album, which is currently available on i-tunes, will be released as a CD on August 3, 2018 by 33Jazz Records via a selection of retailers.

MA featured in Edinburgh University Alumni Profiles@Edinburgh University, Scotland (July 18, 2018)

MA was one of four alumni featured in the Enlightened e-newsletter of Edinburgh University in July 2018. MA, who received her PhD in 1997 from the University’s Law School, was asked to write about her experiences both during her time in Edinburgh and after graduation. She was also asked whether she had any advice for current students.

Zhongjing Fang promoted to soloist@American Ballet Theatre, New York (July 1, 2018)

MA was overjoyed to hear that Zhongjing Fang (also known as “Ziggy”) was recently promoted to soloist of the American Ballet Theatre company. MA collaborated with Ziggy many years ago when she was based in New York as part of her Artist (s) at Large® performance art laboratory. The experience was summarised by Ziggy as follows:

“I had the most incredible experience working with Miriam while I was a single-minded ballerina during my early career period. She helped to open my mind and soul and grow as an artist within the life experiences. Using the knowledge of dance to create a new dialogue with the audience or the space and time.”

James Kaye Memorial Prize Winner @ European University Institute, Fiesole (IT) (April, 2018)

MA was a member of the examining committee for the James Kaye Memorial Prize for the Best Thesis in History and Visuality at the European University Institute (EUI) / Fiesole / IT) and is delighted with the decision to award the prize to Dr Cloe Cavero de Carondelet for her doctoral thesis “Art, Piety and Conflict in Early Modern Spain: The Religious and Artistic Patronage of Cardinal Bernardo de Sandoval between Toledo and Rome (1599-1618)”. The prize will be awarded at the EUI’s conferring ceremony in June 2018.

I AM HERE WHERE I AM HOME BY MA @ GLOBAL (JANUARY 26, 2018)

This April, MA is planning to release I AM HERE WHERE I AM HOME, her fifth studio album (EP / digital release) on 33Xtreme / 33Jazz Records which also features saxophonist Danielle Di Majo. The album, which also includes a short film, was recorded at IndieHub in Milan and mastered at Peter Gabriel’s legendary Real World Studios in the UK and combines her audio / visual / movement arts practice. Coming Soon @ 2018.

FILMING REHEARSAL WITH EMANUELA TAGLIAVIA @ ACCADEMIA DELLA SCALA, MILANO (IT) (JANUARY, 2018)

MA created a short film and made a series of portrait photographs of a rehearsal of an extract of “Gli Uccelli – La Gallina“, choreographed by Emanuela Tagliavia (Accademia della Scala) for the European Ballet Grand Prix (EBGP) in Vienna (A) February, 2018. The short film will be used by both the dancer and the choreographer as part of the travaux préparatoires for the EBGP and the photographs will be used for PR purposes.
