JAMES KAYE MEMORIAL PRIZE @ European University Institute, FIESOLE, ITALY (JUNE, 2022)

As a former post-doctoral research fellow of the European University Institute (EUI) and as a jury member, it gives Miriam Aziz (“MA”) great pleasure to announce that this year’s James Kaye Memorial Prize for the Best Thesis in History and Visuality goes to: Elena Maria Rita RIZZI (HEC PhD 24/2/2021) Modern Art and the Making of a French Republican Imaginary, 1919-1940 (Supervisor: L. Downs) and Bohdan SHUMYLOVYCH (HEC PhD 26/5/2020) Mediating the Land, Landing the Media. Soviet Ukrainian Television and Popular Media Culture, 1957-1989 (Supervisor: A. Etkind). The prize is awarded every two years for the best EUI thesis that combines the study of historical and visual sources in memory of James Kaye, a former student at the EUI and a dear friend of MA who sadly passed away in 2011. The prize will be awarded at the EUI’s conferring ceremony in June 2022.
